Shrewsbury has a team of 30 town guides including Green Badge (local) and Blue Badge (regional) guides.
Walking Tours
Guided Tours for Groups can be arranged at any time of year and tailored to suit your requirements. Your group can be of any size. You will need one guide for every twenty people. A typical guided walking tour lasts about 90 minutes and includes the main sites and historic core of the town. However the length and content can be easily adjusted to suit your group and itinerary.
Latest start time for a tour is 7pm.
Our guides also offer a range of themed tours. Some popular themes include:
Ghost tours – work well in the evening but can be done at any time.
Medieval, Tudor, 18th century, Victorian – Shrewsbury has architecture, characters and stories from 11 centuries of history. We can focus your tour on a particular historic period.
Brother Cadfael – Ellis Peters best-selling medieval detective novels were set in Shrewsbury and use real historic backdrops and events. A Brother Cadfael tour is a delightful mixture of fact and fiction.
Fees: Typical 90 minute historic town walking tour: £35 per guide.
Themed walking tour: £40 per guide
Coach Tours
Hiring a coach guide for the day or part day means that you have an expert on hand to give information and assist the group. The guide will present an informative and entertaining commentary en route, conduct the party at visitor attractions and be on hand to guide or give extra information at lunch and coffee stops.
Themed tours of Shropshire like Brother Cadfael, Literary Shropshire, Castles & Abbeys, can give a unique angle around which to plan and sell your excursion or short break.
Unless you are planning to include town walking tours (for which you will need one guide per twenty people) one guide per coach is likely to be sufficient.
Fees:
